CAHH Annual General Meeting

An integral part of Creating Space is the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Association for Health Humanities. The AGM includes reports from the Executive and Advisory Council including a report of the budget and auditor’s report. It allows members an opportunity to vote on topics important to the development of the organization, such as electing new members for open positions on the Executive and Advisory Council from those nominated before or at the AGM. Members may also raise any other issue of importance to them. Robert’s Rules of Order are used.

Call for Nominations

Canadian Association for Health Humanities Executive and Advisory Council

Are you interested in taking a more active role in the Canadian Association for Health Humanities (CAHH), or do you know someone who would be a great fit?

Consider nominating yourself or someone else to serve on the CAHH Executive and Advisory Council. There are two open positions: Secretary (Executive) and Public Representative (Advisory Council). The term runs three years, with potential for one three-year renewal. Elections will occur at this year's AGM, being held as part of our annual Creating Space conference, March 29-30, 2025 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the CAHH Executive

Members of the CAHH Executive lead the Association by ensuring effective work and evolution of the association; identifying strategic priorities; administering its finances; seeking advice from and communicating with the Advisory Council and membership; liaising with relevant associations, journals, and conference organizers; and representing the association broadly.

Traditionally, the Executive meets monthly (virtually) for 90 minutes.

About the CAHH Advisory Council

The Advisory Council will: (i) advise the Executive in any matter when so requested by the Executive; (ii) raise issue(s) of concern based on their individual and collective view of the health humanities community to the Executive in a timely manner; and (iii) support the Executive by taking on defined tasks as the Council and its members are able. The Advisory Council typically meets with the Executive monthly (virtually) for 60 minutes.

About the open positions

● Secretary: Responsibilities include coordinating meetings of the Executive and Advisory Council, preparing meeting agendas in collaboration with the president, taking and disseminating minutes, maintaining the membership list, answering inquiries, assisting the president with various tasks and initiatives, seeking nominations for Executive positions as well as candidates for vacant Council member positions, and liaising with CAHH/ACSHS-associated journals.

● Public Representative: The incumbent of this position is a voting member of the Advisory Council representing the broader ‘public’ as part of CAHH’s community. Responsibilities coincide with those of the broader Advisory Council (see above).

For more details about these roles and how the Executive and Advisory Council operate, please see the CAHH Constitution on our website.
